Hi All,

Following on from last night's dinner in Sydney, Peter continued his whirlwind world tour with a collectors dinner at Taxi Dinning Room at Federation Square in Melbourne. Twenty people enjoyed chatting to Peter about his watchmaking and the new manual wind Thalassa. No formal presentations, just an opportunity for Peter to meet with watch enthusiasts. On PSM's wrist - he liked this Panerai. I didn't realise Peter was a bit of a lume freak

Thanks for posting Andrew (and so quickly !), and thanks also to Michael for organising.

Lovely food, a great selection of watches being passed around, and Peter Speake-Marin was such an interesting fellow to chat to. A diverse collection of purists around the table to meet, all united by a passion for watches.

Already looking forward to the next Purists GTG…

The MOP watch is very nice, does it use the SM2 caliber?

Peter would have liked to answer this in more detail, but with all the travelling and some computer problems it proved difficult.

 

So on his behalf, this is the FW2012 modified ETA movement housed in a 38x13.5mm steel case with a wonderful sectored mother of pearl dial and an onyx centre. Gianfranca style hands. It is appropriately titled “The Pupil”. It catches the light beautifully and looks very cool on the NATO strap.

And the food was excellent as were the wines.
A great night and PSM with his amazing pieces topped off this wondeful event

As I was emailing last night to some of the Melbourne guys who attended, I wish that I'd flown down for this, two PSM dinners in two days is not too many, after all  

Looks like a fabulous evening, hopefully I get to make it down there sometime.

Hope we get to meet at some stage. You would certainly be welcome in Melbourne.

Peter was very appreciative of all you did.

Poor Peter. I hope that he wasn't too tired. So much travelling in such a short period of time. He's such a great guy, I hope he makes it a habit to come back annually and also hope that next time he manages to fit in Brisbane as well. There are guys there who would love to meet him.

Michael, it look as though it was (as expected) a roaring success. Congratulations.

Looks like another fun GTG.

Hopefully it won't be too long before Peter comes back to Australia again and for a bit longer next time.

Great work, Andrew; thanks for the coverage. Lovely to see an AHCI rock star gracing our shores. Hopefully, it's a start of things to come. Great kudos also to Aptronym and Michael.

It was a great evening and all executed with naval precision. That SEALS training obviously pays off.

But we will have to stop meeting at airports!
