Today, an Young Watchmaker - Remy Cools launches his first subscription timepiece !
I'm happy for multiple reasons...
- an Young watchmaker embarking in his journey, imho this is important so to have fresh blood in the 'traditional' industry !
- Remy is just 23 years old and if he makes this now...I'm very sure his future is bright if he keeps his focus & keep learning with the craft !!
- He is one of the 3 the young talents who won the FP.Journe award in 2018...a good sign !!!
- Last but not least, he worked learning the art from Greubel Forsey !!!!
The Substription Tourbillon he introduce today is an improvement of His first School Watch...
Not beating around the bush...I let the pics of his timepiece do the talking...

I shall definitely look Remy up and I love the creativity of the young watchmakers. Ok I have looked him up. 85,000 euros for a first effort even though it is a tourbillon is a big ask but then again, that is how Rexhep Rexhepi started out and we all know what happened since 
One thing though - this souscription or subscription notion is becoming quite popular but surely most independents who do ask for a deposit when placing an order could also call their watches 'souscription watches'. This definitely helps the cash flow of the independent watchmaker and is understandable.

As for the watch itself, I find the dial too yellow and I prefer a more conventional crown (something that stops me from buying some models from Romain Gauthier) because one of the pleasures of owning a manual winding watch is winding the watch daily and feeling the buttery smooth winding mechanism. Still, an attractive looking watch and a great first effort!

Adhere to the horology, it’s a beautiful thing to see such a young guy make a masterpiece as this. Yellow is not really a color that would draw me in/make a deposit. No winder as well would be an exhausting mental adjustment as well.

True Alan, in deed the pleasure of winding with the crown as Sham mentioned above would be missed...but again 'new thing' in life keeps it interesting isn't it ;-)
i'm not sure the 'yellow' is a picture effect or reality...better to see them in metal imho. i feel it should be close to FPJ gold dials but i've not seen this physically either.

I saw this earlier today -very impressive.
It feels like a watch we see at auction in 40 years from now with an extra 1 in front of the price.
ha ha...i like the fact it is a 'fresh thought' of a watch maker, uninfluenced by any 'marketing department' !
for the auction prices...it is best left to the future to decide ;-)

Wasn't the Montre d’Ecole Tourbillon that this is based on
made with Unitas parts? Is it still the same with this watch? The d'Ecole watch was 42mm and this 40mm.
