Which would you pick and why?

 

... since both wathces you mentioned perfectly represent Ulysse Nardin's maritime heritage. I tried to list the characteristics unique for both models below:

1. Marine Chronograph:

• unique 45 minutes counter (Dubois-Dépraz), but no hours counter
• higher than the chronometer, due to the chronograph module
• date window appears a bit smaller than that on the chronometer
• screwed down pushers

2. Maxi Marine Chronometer

• thinner than the chronograph
• power reserve/small seconds module manufactured inhouse
• COSC certified chronometer
• more dial colours and styles available (Arabian and Roman numerals, the latter applied or printed on plain white lacquer dial)
• lighter than the chronograph

Which one I would pick? I keep asking that myself frequently, over the last years. The Maxi Marine does not offer a substantial difference, regarding complication and dial layout, compared with my Marine Diver. So the Marine Chronograph seems to be more interesting. On the other hand, I simply love the Maxi Chronometer's Roman numerals, which are not available for the chronograph. As I said, it is difficult ...

distinction between the two models. I think the power reserve feature on the chronometer is a plus. At first glance, due to the design of UN, I felt as though they were all the same until I took a closer look and paid attention to the fine details that you mentioned. Unfortunately for me, I will need to get rid of mine soon if I cannot find a job=(

We have a similar problem in our family - journalist, 32 years, experience, no chance of a job, not even as a salesperson at the local supermarket (too well trained, they say). I cross fingers for you, and hope you can keep your watch!

Looking for anything just to get by. Not only am I crossing my fingers, but I am also crossing my legs...lol It is hard out here, not even a sales job at the local mall paying minimum wage would hire. Prefer a younger teen I guess. Well I have a few more days to decide. Need to keep up with bills.

Just curious, how much would an 18k maxi marine chronometer go for? Since the price of gold is crazy, would that help at all?

That being said I'd take the old discontinued Marine Chronograph over the new Maxi Chronometer

... you would prefer the older Marine Chronograph? I'm just curious.
