My first post! Quick question - I'm absolutely in love with the Freak (the Freak I moreso than the 28,800, but I'll take what I can find ....). However, I've noticed that at some point in the 2002-2003 timeframe, UN produced Freaks with a Rose Gold case and a black dial and black strap (I saw a few on old Antiquorum auctions)
Does anyone know if UN still does? All I've seen recently are blue dials with Rose or White gold. While these are nice, too, I vastly prefer the black dial with the rose gold...
Thank you very much
After a handful of phone calls to Switzerland (and Florida), I have learned that you should never trust colors shown on a computer monitor..
I was informed that blue is the historical color of UN, as its roots are in marine chronometers. Hence the "dial" of the Freak and many of the other pieces tend to be blue. And I'm sure I'll buy the Freak, in blue (pics will then follow)!
i've recently viewed a mark 1 freak in the flesh and can assure you that they are a beautiful deep blue.
i've actually put deposit down on one in a private sale having had it authenticated by renato Bonina. its virtually never been worn is number '99' of he production and has been back for its recall so comes with everything they gave free including 3 straps.
BTW if anyone sees one for sale in UK on the worlds biggest auction site dont bid as thats the one i've put deposit on. it should be delisted by tomorrow night.
The Freak is now available with only a blue dial in either Rose or white gold. UN will only be bringing in about 2 per month to the US. If you are interested in the white gold model, you can contact me [Email address suppressed for privacy] .
