Zenith

hi folks, i have just bought my 3rd Zenith from 1964, the model is a 230S with 2532 handwind movement. it is stainless cased with silver dial which makes a change from my other 2 which are both gold cased. i have found out all i really need to know about the movement, but i cant find any information on the model. does anyone know why its called a 230S? i look forward to any responses. here is a poor pic of the watch and a good one of the movement.

Shows nothing.

It seems to me that is a 2522 manual wind movement but I got nothing more at this moment.

After work I will try a fine search on the book and other sources.

thanks Nilo, its a 2532 movement,but i'm more interested in the model name bearing in mind the S58 and this being a 230S.
could there be a connection?

Besides your mysterious 230 S, I just learned about another model, the 220 S (small seconds).

There are a couple watches that do not show up in the Rossler book.  I have a Zenith 2600. which should be around same time frame as our 230 3. Mine is a plated gold 25xx movement that is automatic, looks to be the same case as yours.  They did not make many of these movements.  less than 2500 and I think probably the same for yours.  I have sent my watch into Zenith to get cleaned and they verified everything was good except the crown is not original.  Unfortunately mine is in terrible shape but it has sentimental value.

according to the Ranff website they made 120,000 of the 2532 calibre and its family, but of course some like your date version may have been made in smaller numbers.

I am glad you are getting some good information.   I believe the cal 25xx had huge productions. inline with around what you said.  mine is a specific cal. 2552 which may have been made in larger numbers but i think there were only a few in this case style or named Zenith 2600.  I am very interested to see what you find as there is little written about this there models.

so far, thats all i've found out. not a lot out there on google :(

None of us still know very much about the 230S, but its a nice looking, simple handwind watch with what looks to be a good quality 19 jewel movement. The dial is actually pretty silvery, but my camera didnt pic it up. i seem to have forgotten how to use my panasonic lx3

there is a slight blemish on the plexi at 12 minutes and the crown in unmarked, which does not mean it is not original. so far today accuracy is superb so i am a very happy bunny.

any further information anyone may have on this model would be greatly appreciated by me and Nilo. enjoy Graham
