Thought I'd share pic of my latest catch for my first post in the Zenith Forum: the original El Primero Rainbow Flyback Chrono (circa 2007).
Just love this piece - wears so comfortably, the movement just sings (ahh that high freq beat!) and the timekeeping is superb (within 3 secs/day even with the chrono running)
BTW: could a resident expert here please tell me when this model was discontinued. I know the coloured Rainbow version was released in 1999 but don't know it was stopped (mine has papers stamped as 2007 but I always thought it was discontinued well before then). Cheers

A not well-known fact ...
... is that Zenith had all components for this "original" Fly-Back in store and you could order it from the factory still in 2006. The last time it was listed was in 2003, and it was released in 1997.

... but I would be even happy to take the boutique re-issue instead.

I recall (but may be mistaken) ...
... that there was a boutique-only version of the Fly-Back chronograph with the colourful minute counter. There had been one during the Nataf era, but it was rather weird, oversized, with skeletonized hands (and minimum of SL) and big metal stars. But the newer one had been really nice. Or is it the same as the current 46mm version? It is really easy to get lost in the jungle of versions if you are not checking regularly.

I bought mine in 2000. 1st generation I believe. It looks small even on my skeletal arms. Just had it serviced instead of buying a new car. The tritium thing fell out.
When I bought it, the strap clasp didn't work so I took it back under warranty. They sent it to Switzerland by surface mail and returned it 6 months later. I got the impression that I was supposed to have bought a more expensive watch.
However, it is still my favourite watch. I wear it snorkelling, in the pool, in the shower. I would never sell it. The first gen models seem to be more comfortable than any of my other watches.

The deployant clasp on my zenith rainbow is pretty sub-par as well, but it's all part of its charm.
