What do YOU think:
a) 5196G now (several on offer online) and, later, once I find one, a 5130R --- THAT is what I really want/think I should want
b) 5196R now and 5130G now --- Does the 5196R dial with its silvery opaque colour make the watch look "bi color" in a bad way? Is a 5130G a bit too understated?
c) 5196R now and 5146G now --- as an alternative to the marmite WT
YES I KNOW I should do what I think is best etc. But I am curious to hear your views, opinions etc. Please!

The warmth of the material is incomparable in the context of the 5130.

I totally share your appeal for rose gold in a collection. I don't have any since I sold my 1815 several years ago and I must say that I'd like to consider this color for a future new one. The combination with the silvery dial was perfect but I don't know how it looks in the 5196R: you must have a look by yourself and see if it suits you.
Back to your question, I would say that buying two watches at two different moments is a way to multiply the pleasure.
So I'll focus on one and then think about the other one later.
As you'll wear only one of these at a time (!), the process of considering them separetly is maybe a good way to really decide which of the R or G (for each model) is the right one for you.
I'm affraid considering both at the same time may drive you the wrong way.
If it was for me, I'll get the 5196 first and take the "higher" 5130 afterwards.
I think I personally have a slight preference for the 5196G with the 5130R.
The 5130R looked really nice when I saw it, very warm even though not discreet. The G one wasn't to my taste.
As for the 5196G, I like its monochrome aspect.
I don't know how you wear them: which one you use for casual wear, work etc... This might be of importance.

...get the monochrome classic 5196G which is easily available at the moment and which I want without doubt (see several of my previous posts) - to scratch the PP itch, as a daily beater.
and wait and see when it comes to the "grail" - 5130R when there is one on the pre-owned market (silence for 3 months now in Europe), or a 5146R (!), or maybe a VC or Breguet in RG.
The Calatrava is a great Patek to possess, especially in this
5196g version, imho.
As for the following one, it will give you time to see them and imagine yourself wearing them a little more.
It will help you to decide on the long run without the risk of a mistake
But I agree Tony, it's exciting!

it is a very nice way to discover and get familiar with Patek Philippe's DNA, from the beginning.
The Calatrava, born in 1932, existed during the whole new history of the brand and is a very nice reference in the collection.
