Patek 5039 vs 130

Hi-

I was close in pulling the trigger on a Patek 130, until I saw a 5039 rose gold and am now truly confused on which one to get. I realize both are very different, but any advice would be welcome.... I'll probably end up getting both

but not sure I can justify that to myself!

I would have no hesitation.... Well, maybe I would go for a Vacheron sibling, much less expensive but not less desirable.

In your case, since you are waving between these two, the answer is simple: Get both or none. If you only get one, you will think about the other...

I don´t know anything about you and your watches, but in general I can imagine both watches in a collection. Which one works best for you? I have no idea, to be honest.

I shouldve stated before, looking for a dress watch I can wear on a semi-regular basis, I travel internationally a fair amount, so wouldn't want an uber expensive watch.

My daily wearer now is a YG Daytona.I bought an ALS timezone a couple weeks ago(will arrive by thanksgiving), but still have an itch for a patek I can wear on a regular basis. I have 3 other Patek's that I inherited a couple years ago (a 2499, 5004 and 5016), but i never wear them, due to $$ value and somewhat feeling like a schmuck wearing them at my age, knowing that I didn't buy them

I started looking at a 3940 or 5070 and have evolved into the current two choices 130 or 5039.... The Vacheron looks interesting as well, never noticed that before...

In my opinion, neither of these really fall into the 'daily wearer' category. Of the two, the 5039 is probably more so, especially if you are in business attire (if casual / short sleeves, then the 130).

If you looked at the 5070 previously, have you also considered the 5170? The price point compared to the 130 is a bit different, as is the size, but if you're looking for a daily wearer it might fit the bill better, so to speak.

All things held equal, my personal preference would be for the 130 over the 5039. Then again, my favorite references are the 570 and 2508, so I may be biased

Finally, wear your inheritance in good health and with pride. You have a gorgeous collection that deserves to see the light of day, at least from time to time!

A dress watch for frequent international travelling and not too expensive (the latter is very relative) and for some reasons you seem to favour "vintage" pieces. Both references mentioned by you would not come to my mind and me would prefer "white metal" instead of a lower price tag only. It seems I still don´t understand your criteria.

What about two-time-zone or world time watches?

Size of the watch, is it important for you?

Is it important what other people think about your watch or whom do you want to please?

It seems you have some fancy watches. Nice, but what does it help if you don´t like to wear them. Once more, we seem to be different.
