My 5070P is one that I wear only at the weekend....only with a pair of jeans....and only when I am not seeing other people, but just my family. That is my perfect time to enjoy such a watch.
Black tie and Rolex
There are MANY great Rolex s to wear with a black tie.
- 8171 in steel for example? (one of my all time favorite evening watches out of all brands)
- 6062 black dial / star dial?
- Or what about the 1930 Rolex prince series?
- I think a Paul Newman Daytona works also with a black tie
But I understand your point about Patek and the 1940, 50 and 60s. It was their golden era much like Ferrari had that era with certain cars.

ps: That is what collecting is all about. When your wife thinks they all look the same. But we, we know the fine differences.
Even if it is just one line, one shade of brown, one digit in the meter depth rating that is not 1 but 2. Thats why we love watches!
Rolex 8171.....
.....yep, I would argue that would be the single Rolex I would select for evening wear. To be fair, its one of the all-time great Rolex.
The other choices you select, well...not for me. I think other manufacturers do it better for formal wear.

You have awakened my interest in this legendary line. So I went a few shops down from where I work and:
Beyer, one of the most famous and oldest watch retailers in the world have two beautiful ref 570 in the window.
One in RG and the other in WG. I will try them on later this week.

Baron, it's lovely. That case and dial have a completely 60s modern appeal -- the clean, angular shape of the lugs, with that linen, domed dial. Very nice. Congratulations!

Stunning the way the crown lines up with the case, and the

And the case has to be seen in the flesh , in photo it looks basic, in real, it has an "architectural beauty" , hard to explain but it is very effective

This was what striked me with the 3445, I suppose it was the same here :)
For Bauhaus, there are some vintage Lange with a similar look to the actual stowa Antea and Nomos... but I prefer these Patek
