I will present 2 watches .
One is a SS watch with an outdated "complication" which is of no use to anyone at all

The second is a gold watch with a stunning automatic movement

If you should ask 99% of watch collectors, I would hazard a guess and say the mojority would value no 2 way above no1

However as most of us here know no 1 ranks way above no2.

Why??

Who knows

They are both just a beautiful- similar case and similar face

The 3417 is very high in my list. A superb Watch, which I would love to get, to do side by side pictures with my Geophysic..

Wait,, maybe I don't have to wait to get mine for such a picture...





I wouldn't say that amagnetism is not of anyone's use anymore... We are surrounded by magnetic things, such as the TV, the computer, the cell phone, the security detectors, and so on... Most of my watches are magnetized. I  made the test.

Just look at the material of the case, the indexes, the 12 ... but both have great inner values and are beautiful, classical watches. It´s all about the details!

The crown of your 2584 is one of my favorites and if there would be one in white metal ... in good contidition ... Could I resist?! smile

Because 27AM400 is probably the most desiderable manual movement by Patek Philippe (and not only) certainly in the 12 lignes category.
Because steel Patek Philippe wristwatches are much more appreciated and rare than  the yellow gold ones. This is the same in all Patek Philippe's references
Because 3417 dial is awesome in perfect Bauhaus style with a delicious "Amagnetic" printing, and what about index and radial minutes indexes?
Lugs are different too.
Is it a crazy obsession to pay 200 K USD for a Rolex Daytona ref. 6263 with Newman dial when a "normal" 6263 is "only" 30 K USD?
Vintage market has its own rules.

.....but yes, i would prefer the 3417 for many reasons. First, it has that Amagnetic quirk to it. Second, I am not a big fan of yellow gold watches and love steel....so it ticks that box......third, Patek were not quick to the Amagnetic game, but this represents an important watch for them....
