Greetings to all!
I haven't posted for quite a while, but continue to keep track of the happenings on this great site. I thought I'd use some holiday free time to share my two aquisitions for 2012. I have to admit I'm getting somewhat fatigued by the incessant price increases in the industry, and particularly with Patek. Perhaps that is why my eyes and heart were drawn to beauty in its ultimate simplicity this year...

Best wishes to all for a Happy and blessed New Year!
Steve
Love the shape of the PP logo, on the crown of the vintage.
2 beauties, indeed.
Best, and Happy NY.

You have picked up my 2 favourites Calatravas.
I love the rounded crown guard of the 5127, very similar to the one of the 5125. Also the rose gold is for sure a good choice (although I also love the platinum version with black dial as a very elegant dress watch but the look is quite different).
And 2526 is of course an excellent choice too. As Nicolas mentions, the PP crown is a small detail which ads really a lot to the beauty of this watch.
Congrats, definitely the choice of a refined Patek lover.
Best,
Mike
I appreciate the kind words. To address some questions/comments: The vintage watch is a ref.2526 in yellow gold from 1958. Of course, the main attractions of the 2526 are that it contains Patek's first automatic winding movement (caliber 12-600AT) and, perhaps even more importantly, the double-baked porcelain enamel dial. It is difficult to capture in a picture, but the yellow-beige patination on the dial is very rich. The original PP style crown is another great touch. The watch came with a modern buckle, but my outstanding local AD was able to find the original style for me.
The 5127, in rose gold, has tempted me for quite a while. My AD said that they aren't making 5127's any longer, that all the caliber 324 movements were going into other models. To Mike's point; I agree that the platinum case with black dial is outstanding, but I believe that was only done with reference 5107 and not 5127. These watches are nealy identical, with really only subtle differences in the bezel.
I also had occasion to see and try on the new 5123 Calatrava. It left me cold in pictures, but really surprised me in the metal. It has a unique way of how the lugs meet the case body that boosts the presence on the wrist. I was impressed.
Thanks again for looking, and best to all.

...the 5127 does not exist in Pt but only WG (in addition ot RG and YG of course).
Yes indeed I was talking about the 5107 which is has a similar case with rounded crown guards but a flat bezel (probably not easy to keep unscratched) which does exist in 4 metals.
Thank you for your correction.
Best,
Mike

But I agree, it doesn't come across very well in the pictures!
