Help on new purchase
I recently purchased this watch's head at an auction. I am planning to send in to PP for restoration. Unfortunately the back is missing. Any recommendation? Identification of the type/model of watch? Thank you for the help.

Indeed, it looks like ref. 3546
The movement belongs to this reference and those watches were produced around 40 years ago.
Golden Ellipse is one of the least wanted Pateks. I have serviced many watches in Geneva recently and I'm also following the prices of the older references. My guess is that the renovation costs of this watch together with the missing back are very close to the commercial value of such a watch in mint condition.

But still most of the costs are public...
This is only my qualified guess and the offer you will get from the Manufacturer or AD. The guess is based on Patek's prices in Switzerland:
- Service for the movement SFR 800.00
- New crown SFR 85.00
- Polishing of the case SFR 120.00
- New case back SFR 1,800.00
___________________________________
Subtotal SFR 2,805.00
VAT % SFR 224.40
___________________________________
TOTAL SFR 3,029.40
The service of the movement can be more because the watch is over 20 years old. The price of the case back is also a guess but it's based on some experience.
I hope this helps. Anyhow, deliver the watch either to Patek or an AD in order to get an exact price. If you will decide to fix the watch, you will get a fantastic watch back in some 8-12 weeks after delivery.

You are right about the cost, but since this is my first Patek Phillipe acquisition, I believe it is worthwhile. I am learning a lot about PP, just by trying to find out what I got. I also understand that the 23-300 is one of best movement out there, along with the fact that PP is one of the few watchmakers that can carry the Geneva Seal. Thank you again.
