I too Am in agreement
Plus there are better value with these older pieces.
But, as much as I love the 5050 Romans the new 5940 is also a beauty.
I was meeting my banker and friend today who is also a watch nut and we all are looking at the older pieces. The good news is we can afford more of them!

I think it is 35.5mm.....wear bigger than the size though.

Where to get? I have no clue, it's hard to come by with good provenance and complete box, winder, case back and original paper.
I luck out and found one from our own CM. Seller is a perfect gentleman too

I like your watches posted, especially the 5050, I just don't have the dough to do a 5050p I so much wanted, so I guess you're right, we're getting old

The 5050 is killer. Is that a RG Dato? Did you sell the Pisa?
5050 / 5970 / PLM would make a killer collection.
It is also hard to like the new watches when you could have bought two old ones for the price of a 5140. Makes those 50K perpetual calendars look cheap!

I started late...
working hard when young to make vitamin M to get all these, now age catch up and realise
they are not all worth it ;-P
We only need one or 2 for memories, not for time.

Big dilemma
I completely agree with you. I love the past and live in the past not just with material things but my mentality as well.
The big problem/dilemma I have you also maybe sometimes are confronted with aswell: To realise that once these models you have on your wrist
were also novelties but yet now are icons (I also own a Datograph). While undoubtedly a few new models will once become
Icons I think we (people who like old things) have one big advantage: Production of things in the past were fewer and mostly still handmade.
Profitability is driving all companies (yes including Patek) to make more models and thus the chances new things becoming Icons
are by definition less probable. Best Edmond

I normally prefer discontinued watches, while the new releases typically fail to move me.
My idea of a serious watch is a watch that i will still love in 10, 20, 30, etc. years.
In this line of work, the Datograph is, for me as well, at the very top of the list ;-)
The Patek is very cool too... Congratulations for your excellent taste.
