Patek Philippe

I know it's way too early, but let's get some initial impressions of Patek's 2012 Basel going!!

FWIW, mine are:

1.  White Nautilus dials.  Meh.

2.  5940.  Lovely piece.  5040 was too small for almost anyone.  Great vintage feel in the J.  Only question.........looks like a lotta different fonts goin on.  Overall, tho, a wonderful updated cushion perpetual.

3.  New 5960 dials.  Nice.  Never was a big fan of the "roulette wheel" dial.

4.  Bracelets on 5396 and 5130.  Meh. 

5.  New metals for 7071.  Beautiful watch on paper.  New metals lovely.  But watch is surprisingly thick in person.  Anybody ever seen anyone wearing a 7071?  How does it look on wrist?

6.  5204/5213 - outta my league.

Apart from MR, the ones I like are 5123 (esthetically one of the best Calatrava) and 5204 (technically).

5726 with metal bracelet is a perfect watch. Very nice and very balanced. The white faces I don't like.

And the 5726 looks like a sure shot winner.

I am a big fan of the 5940.  I love those cushion shaped pieces.  The 5204 is also beautiful, but not sure how I feel about it being 40mm (or $317K, lol).  One of the charms of the 5004, for me anyways, was that they crammed a grand comp into a 36mm case.

And do I have it right that the 5213 is a 5216 without the tourb?

5130/1G is lovely too.

The 5213 is quite nice too but I didn't touch it. A massive piece though, compared to the defunct and charming 5013!

I'm happy (and too busy alas).
