Hello everybody,

Yesterday, I met another watch passionate wearing a sublime 3940 in yellow gold, probably from the early 90's.

The strange detail I noticed about this watch, is that the micro-rotor didn't have the calatrava cross engraved on it. I was wondering if this was a common particularity of the 3940 references of these times?

some don't. I have seen the Calatrava cross and no cross but 22K stamped on the rotor. Also some held by a screw on the main shaft and some held by 2 screws..bizarre!! Cheers

I believe had a solid caseback. Couldn't see the rotor.

had a saphire caseback as well as a solid caseback that you could optionally put on. I'll put some photos to illustrate my words.

for the pix. You are correct. After further research, I did notice too that the first series 3940 did have a snap on case back that you could remove to view the movement.

Not sure if you're asking me if that particular piece is from the 90's.

If it is your friend's piece then it must be from the 90's Other than that, I can't tell from that pix if it is from the 90's. Not sure at what year the Catrava appeared on the rotor.

No this is not my friends watch, though, it looks exactly the same.

Yes, i was wondering if this watch was from the early 90's, but from some researches I've made, plus the answers I got from the thread, I concluded this watch should be or a 3941 or a 3940 from the early 90's. ( It's only a hypothesis though )

By the way,the dial of the watch is the regular 3940 dial (shown below)

I like the first series 3940 that came out in the 80's. I thought the dial design on the first series was a little easier to read and more "handmade" if you will.
