Patek Philippe

Long time mostly-lurker, thought I'd post some pictures of my 5135R.  What drew me to this one last year was the fact that I could actually read the day and month;  subdials look great, but at some point they are tough to read... Looked at the WG, RG, and YG and found that RG was the only one that made me weak in the knees.  Pt is nice, too, but not worth losing the 3 and the 9 - they really make the dial.  I dreamed about it for the better part of a year before buying - I wanted to make sure that this was love and not lust!

Truely, alongside with the YG version, the best looking 5135.

Very art nouveau, classy, elegant and useful, too.

IMO, the 5135R is one of the nicest Pateks around.

Thanks for the great photos you took.

I remember my 5135G well, and like you appreciated the legibility. The glare from the crystal I found rather annoying though.

This is one thing that I do not really like about Pateks:  nearly all are difficult to read as the saphire reflects too much.

With Pateks it has to be a very distinctive combination, like blue and gold, grey and gold or simple white and gold in order to be legible.

Your 5135 G is a good example and the 5146 G also for, let us say: impaired legibility.

Lange is much better in that specific point: very, very legible.

The usage of an antireflecting coating outside on the glas is a (growing) concern though ...

Indeed, with a Patek you must find just the right combination or the piece does not bring satiety, be it A/R or the design elements.

I have no worries about A/R on the outside. Some people complain it can scratch, but that has never happedn to me...Ans if it did, it would simply be a service issue.

Still have the WG Slate dial.  Depending on the lighting they can be easy or harder to see.

Funny thing is the Nautilus and Aquanaut are easy to see no matter the lighting conditions.

That's also one of the nice things about the 5146 with the luminous hands and dots, imo.

I wish my 5135r would have had a dial the color of the rose Nautilus.

This is the one watch I regret trading. A stupendous looking piece indeed. Congrats and ENJOY!

Glad you enjoyed the third shot.  No matter what you do, this is a highly reflective watch, and I thought that the crystal platter would make things a little more interesting.  Here's another attempt to use the reflections that is perhaps less successful...  an interesting picture, I think, but doesn't really make the watch look very beautiful!
