Patek Philippe

i mean before i didnt like it and was fascinated and still am by the 5712 (i was stupid enough to sell it just months ago but for personal reasons and still hurt from it) but i swear out of no wear the 5980 became some kind of obsession at the moment...its quit strange as im still in love and will pursue another 5712 but the 5980 is hurting my head and want it soooo bad...

btw its an integrated chrono correct?

i have the steel version and the rose gold version they are way thicker than the 5712 and looks alot nicer on the wrist, go for it and don't even think twice. it's a great one.

So let me start by saying I do not own a Patek. I've been a vintage rolex collector for many years. Last year, the lure of a Patek chrono became an obsession. 3970, 5070, vintage ... I became obsessed.

The nautilus. Not my thing. never liked it.

Saw some pics of the 5980. It was intriguing. I haven't adjusted to the new chrono module on the 5960. But on the 5980 it just seems to work for me. The chunky case beautifully designed around the pushers, it was singing to me.

I went to the local AD to check it out in person. It blew me away. I was really shocked by how much I liked this watch. My obsession shifted to the 5980. And with the black dial!

About a month passed and I went back to the AD to see it again. He took it out and handed to me. I took off my trusty old daytona. Put on the 5980. And you know what? Eh. Didnt so it for me. Not sure what happened. But it just didn't have thebsame impact. I still really like then watch and could see myself owning one. But it dropped about 8 watches down on my wish list that day. I'm happy I didn't go for it then.

But i will say this. It is an alluring watch and I completely understand your feelings. I would suggest spending time with it in the metal about 6 weeks apart just to be sure

In the meantime, it is back to old rolexes and thenquest for my first Patek chrono continues.

And to make it short, yes, it is.

I can understand that... Not my favourite among the 3, when launched in 2006, but now, it is.

Maybe the 5712  looks mre refined than the 5980, but this last one is more powerful, and sums quite well the spirit of the Nautilus: Elegance and Sportivity.

If I had to get another Nautilus in my collection, I would have hard time choosing between the Nautilus Vintage ( 3700 ) and this 5980.

I think I can relate to you....

A month ago, I became really interested in the 5980 after I had the chance to try on the new black dial. It sang to me brilliantly

Then I came across an opportunity to own a blue dial 5980 and I just simply went for it !

I have to agree that there is an understated sporty elegance to this timepiece and even though it is not as loud as some other sporty watches out there, it carries a certain charm that you would need to experience it first hand to truly experience that emotion...

i had put aside a 5711 as a compromise nautilus but now have the all clear from the wife to go after the 5980 i won;t hesitate, just need to sort out whether its black or blue dial. my favourite patek by some distance.

I'm not in the hunt for a 5980 at this time but if I was I'd get the blue one.  It would complete my trio, hum maybe I should do just that?

My first Patek purchase, had it for 3 months and do not regret it one bit, absolute stunner and one of the best sport watch around.

it is the best sports watch with a bracelet....

Mind you, it s not really a tool watch (I doubt it that any watch can beat a Rolex submariner or a FF)
but Patek did not mean it to be one...

A real pleasure to wear.
