Dear all,

This is a "brand new" 3940G. You will notice that the lower half of the 24 hour dial is "yellowish".

It is not a photo defect or "funny" angle.

Is there anything "wrong" and in your opinion 1) is it rectifiable and 2) how does this "defect" affect the price of the watch

I apologize in advance if I am raising issues that cannot be talked about on this board. I am happy to receive pm on the subject as I

am looking to buy the watch.

sorry, what exactly do you mean by "night indicator"?

They way I "see" the time is 1540

At that time (15:40), its hand is being overlapped by the day hand.

BTW - it's one of the Top 5 watches, from all brands, IMHO

All 3940's with the silvery dials have a the bottom half of the 24-hour subdial darker then the top:

That's the first time I have noticed that.

I think that a visit to Spec Savers is well over due!!

As others indicated, it is to distinguish the evening/night hours. It was that way on the original first series from '85-'87, along with other distinguishing marks, such as the accent on the 2nd "E" in geneve, bubbles that flanked swiss at the 6:00 position, etc.

Congratulations on acquiring this very nice timepiece.
