Thanks to the many posts on 5217-1A, I decided to acquire my first Patek from my local AD.
It is fresh from the box and wraps. Was so excited that I took the wrist shot, forgeting that the date and time setting is not done yet.
It fits my (small) wrist very well, with comfortable bracelet to match.

Having seen and felt it, I can understand why it has so many fans.
My regular AD rep knew I was looking for an elegant sports watch and just received this piece. She gave me a ring and the rest was history. So in a way this piece was waiting for me, instead of I waiting for it.
It's one of those time that probably most of us experienced, when we are looking for it, it is always so difficult. But when we aren't the prefect piece for us just appears, which happened to me in the case of my Zenith Ultra Thin (limited edition) and Franck Muller Liberty.
Cheers!
and as they say,the watch seeks you out and it's like a match made in heaven!
cheers

Now that is the way to start the year. Congratulatuions on a great catch.
Best regards,

so much response from all. Thanks. Will wear it and give my view about it in due course and try to provide a couple of decent shots of the movement. The transparent caseback is one of the reasons I'm attracted to the watch.
Cheers!
What a great piece to start your Patek collection with.
And of course the New Year.
quite a few post by fellow PP owners the problems/ defects with their new watches (some just out from factory pack, like mine). Will be closely monitoring mine.
Great to be able to appreciate the movement with the see through case back.
Happy to report that there is no issue with the power reserve despite its mini rotor.
In all, like many 5712 owners have stated, it's a great watch that I can wear for any occasions.

to show how thin it is, despite its complication.
