Patek Philippe

After ten months of ownership, my 3971 is finally going for a holiday to the Patek Philippe workshop. A 3971, is essentially identical to the 3970 2nd series (produced 1987-1990), but now fitted with a sapphire case back as standard.

Hopefully it will come back soon and looking like new.

why after only ten months you are sending it to PP? Is it recommended for such a complication. Nice watch BTW

I bought it at a Christies auction and not sure of the service history.

It's appears to just about the right size for your wrist.

I am sure that when it comes back from it's holiday & pamper session, that it will looking like the proverbial "Million Dollars"

I talked about mine with a big auction house. They told me to wind it from time to time, and not to service it until imperative.

Actually this watch is my favorite, but I am wearing a 5960 as a daily beater because mine is too valuable. Maybe I will buy a second sample one day in place of the 5960, when I'm older it may be more my style. The button feel is much better on the Lemania movement than on the Patek manufacture chrono.

LOL my 5960P also get more wrist time. During the week after work and on weekends. You are right the 3971 is smoother. Having said that, the 5960P is my favourite watch on my wrist in terms of feel.
