Patek Philippe

I know this has been asked many, many times before, but I'm at the crossroads and am looking for last minute help.  I just picked up a 5196J and love it and am looking for another everyday "sporty" Patek.  My choice is between a 5711/1a and 5167a on rubber strap.  I've owned both in the past (should've never sold them) and have to say that I do like the 5711/1a just a bit more.  However, given that both pieces have the same movement, is the price difference worth it?  I'd be saving over $4k if I went with the Aquanaut.  HELP!!!

Gosh, at these prices, $4K does not seem like such a big deal when, as you say, you already know that you like the Nautilus more.  The fact that you have owned both of these watches in the past puts you in the position of knowing for sure which one you prefer.  Most of us have a hard time deciding between watches at some point or another when we cannot get both, and it is hard in many of those instances to sort out which watch we prefer. But you have the advantage now of knowing which one you prefer, and that should be worth the difference in price btween these two models. I suspect that the the bracelet on teh Nautilus is also worth a bit of a premium over the rubber strap on the Aquanaut.

I have both and prefer the Nautilus. For some reason, I just don't gravitate to the Aquanaut and defer to the Nautilus. Maybe it's the dial? I don't know how to explain it,  I just feel more comfortable with the Nautilus.  So, why did I buy the Aquanaut?  I thought I wanted it....so I rationalized myself into buying it because it wasn't crazy money. 

Wasn't the first time for me to do something like this, but am trying to be patient and buy only those pieces I really want (within reason, of course).

I have a 5167 on a rubber strap and love it for its lightness - you really don't know you;re wearing it. I also have a 5712G, but I have a hankering for a 5711/1a too...If money is an issue you probably shouldn't be buying Pateks - there is no logical reason to spend that much money on a watch when your iPhone tells perfectly good time. You have to go with your heart on this and not over think it.

what is the price spread if SS bracelet on 5167 vs the 5711? surely lesser then the 4k spread, so might as well go for the 5711, since you seems indifferent to both, prob a slight preference to 5711, which shld have made up your mind for you.

about a year ago when trying to decide which Patek to buy. I would not be worried terribly about €4k in such a decision & I love both watches.
But without going into the minute details (which on the whole are expressions of personal choice), I have to say that the only thing that I prefer - still today - with the Nautilus, is that it lacks numerals on the dial. In EVERY other respect - for me - the Aquanaut is superior. (So I got the 5167). Good luck!

that happened to me as well.  So I got the 5167 first.  Some time later as i think about it more, I found out that I also like the Nautilus.  Then I got the 5980.  If I were you, I will take 5167 and when you are ready, get a Nautilus.  But if you have 5167, you want a more complicated Nautilus, 5712 or 5980 will fit your case.

My problem is I like the 5711 just a tiny tad more than the Aquanaut.  Just wondering if it's really worth spending an extra $4k for it.  I think it's going to come down which watch looks better on my wrist vs. with is a better watch.

These questions don't make sense from someone who had both before, imo.
