Recently two gentlemen collectors each purchased one timepiece - the Patek Philippe References 5970P and 5016R. Here is what transpired in a Patek Philippe boutique.

This is the Patek Philippe Reference 5016R - minute repeater, perpetual calendar and tourbillon.

The watch is accompanied by a large leather folder, as are all Patek Philippe grande complication watches.

Setting the watch takes a couple of minutes...

The watch is so incredible everyone has to try it on.

First: many, many thanks for this brilliant post!
Pictures from the 5016R are always very much appreciated.
And they are not blur at all, very nicely taken, actually.
The same with your Lange Homage post!
But how come that a 5016R is sold with its own booklet, huge case but without a watch winder?
Still it is the top noch watch from PP, and as someone mentioned already here: the owner applies sophistication on his skin with this purchase.
I very much like the HUGE crown! Wished other watches would "dare" to have also big crowns as it gives them a touch of nostalgia, a touch of authenticity.
The inevitable thickness altough could be in issue in terms of wearability, but the small diameter makes it all relative again, I suppose.
Anyhow: a collectors gem!
Regards
Moritz
Although the watch is small, it has presence on the wrist due to the contrast of the rose gold and black dial, as well as its thickness.

And so the purchases were concluded....

and followed by a celebratory dinner at Morton's of Chicago which also doubled a a test venue for the repeater. The restaurant was noisy but the repeater was clearly audible from across the table so it passed. Morton's was also dimly lit, hence the noisy photos of a noisy watch. The legibility of the 5970G against the 5970P is readily obvious here as well.

Congratulations to the two lucky gentlemen!

Thanks for the write-up JX.

For those who are not aware we actually know each other in the real world, they may think there could be trouble on the horizon... All's cool and good here folks.
It is a beauty - both the watch and the pictures you took. Only if I have tons of $ ...
Thanks for sharing.
W
great post...and of course...GREAT pieces...
wow...brings a smile to my morning...
thank you very much for sharing!!
And of course, an automatic watch-winder is available for manual wind watches, but I don't think I would want my 5016 constantly under tension in a winder...
I am drooling on my keyboard! Those are two of the hottest watches!! Amazing!
