...that it took some time for me to warm up to this watch, whereas I fell for certain competitors in the luxe toolwatch category (e.g. AP RO) right away. I do enjoy the 5711/1A for its unique look and subtle power. It has a wonderful, clean presence that has really grown on me. I can feel your passion for it pouring off the page, as I read your loving ode to what IMO is one of the lasting designs in the horological world.
Great reading you, Dje!

My stealth daily wearer. Nobody knows it's G!

My top 4 everyday 'tool watches' i.e. the ones which I wear comfortably in any company or occasion all the time:
1. PP Nautilus 5711/1A
2. Titanium RM010
3. AP RO SS Perpetual
4. IWC SS Big Pilot
Would be great if you shared some of your everyday 'tool watches' also?
Cheers,
Shary
... to fully 'accept' this watch (the whole Nautilus series in fact) , but a few weeks ago I took the risk of buying one 5980/1 and I have to say I didn't regret it untill now. It's a very versatile watch IMO, you can wear it in almost any condition and it will always keep a flair of elegance and sportiveness without pushing the limits.

more so than the Royal Oak in my opinion.

I understand you are in love
I also love the simplicity of the Nautilus and love the story behind the design.
I actually realy like the 1970's watch designs of Mr Genta, especially the AP RO and the PP Nautilus (who got its name from the sea animal (molluscs) Nautilus pompilius pompilius)
The story I believe says that Mr Genta invented the design while taking a walk on the seaside.. and saw a porthole
Actually I learned Gerald Genta rarely wears any watch at all.... Here a picture where he is

As I understood on a interview i read (in a german watch magazine) he rarely/never wears a watch at all. He doesnt want to make this -keeping time- beeing a hazzle and move him away from his creative thoughts
Cheers
