I am looking to buy my first and likely only Patek...I like all of the following watches, and now looking for best choice when it comes to uniqueness and ollectability. Please share thoughts and why on the following...all seem to be in my price range and are preowned and or discontinued:
5196P - rare with breguet numbers, older classic look without date; mechanical and thin; would like to know more about why this one is the way to go, if so
5035G - nice look with all the informative dials
6000G - black dial and seems to be best deal for the $$
5055G - discontunued but not hard to find, nice moonphase addition
5054G - nice officer's case, which I hear they are making fewer of? nice moonphase addition
...and purchase the 5196P -- was just too unique to pass up.
Wear it in the best of health.
Please post some pictures whenever you get a chance.
Best,
Alex
My pick is 5196P, i have one too, and i love the original ref 96, so having the 5196P is like having a modern version of refs 96, similar to the PAM127 for 6152.
But all your choices are good, and I am sure you will be happy with any from your list.
Keep in mind, yo won't stop at the first one, it is an addiction.
i like the original ref 96 similarites as well, the retro look is great -- especially with the unique platinum dial in this 5196 series .
likley not my last Patek, but extemely happy for now!
Patek has this watch on the website now, meaning it is still being manufacturered, yes? do you know how long it has been around / how many of these made and if they plan to discontinue soon? what does it mean when discontinued...a good thing?
