The 5170 is great indeed, but ofcourse they had too. It is a watch wcich is good enough to be the successor of the 5070.
Must be great to own both. If only 1 is possible ,... you guys know my choice ;-)
The live pictures are particularly convincing IMO that this year's range of Pateks was overall very nice, with one truly outstanding, amazing, just brilliant (to me) watch that goes into Daos' Ridiculously Attractive Watches Archive (My personal highest honor! LOL!). Well, you know of which watch I speak!
Cheers, and thanks for the wonderful coverage of this year's PP models!
Daos
they re distilled the meaning of sporty elegant watch.
Thanks for posting.
Faisal
thanks for a wonderful report Dje.
great to see all these exciting new PP's coming along...while most of them are completely out of my range, some are om my radar...
I am very much fond of the 5960 and i think the way PP does the annual calender is really great - it keeps the dial nice and clean. Great to see that there is a choice of dial color now and i am really curious how the blue dial compares to the charcoal grey one.
As for the 5980...well, it is kind of applealing ot have a Nautilus chronograph, but i can't help myself and i still prefer the 5712/1A. The thinner case fits the Nautilus better IMO, and it looks sharper on the my wrist.
Cheers,
Stefan

it also took you a few years to realize you need a 5070 ;-)
so a 5170 is on it's way but you don't know it yet
lol

I agree with most things you say but not about the case.
for be the 5070's case is one of the mosr beautifull cases I ever saw. and I can't see a reason whyt the 5170's case would be more elegant
I prefer the 5070. The new watch seem me on e clatrava....but it's good the new pulsation climb.
(excusme for my english but I have not studied english)
a very elegant chrono.dress watch (not too big, not too small).
I'm looking at the the most recent Antiquorum catelog (2nd page) shows a vintage Patek 1463 two register chronograph. The similarities are clearly apparent,... right down to the straight sword hands, and roman numerals at 6, and 12 o'clock. By the way, I really love the two roman numerals,... very elegant, and very 1940's.
The 1463 still wins (IMO), due primarliy to having a more narrow bezel (adding a further touch of understatement and refinement)
However, the 5170 is certainly a true modern contender, and should find itself in the "skip a turn and move to the classic category" in very short order,... especially with the very cool and rare pulsation dial (in the Patek vintage world, this dial would command some serious coin).
