Hello Forum,

Today I received my 5970P from my AD. I have noticed a few things about the watch that appear to be different from other 5970's I have seen only in photos. First of all it has 1 diamond on the case between the lugs at 6 o'clock. Secondly, the dial is like a charcoal color as opposed to gloss black and the moon dial is dark blue.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

the diamond is PP sign to indicate it is a platinum case

as I remember the dial should be black...black

The diamond has been set between the lugs on new PT case models for several years now (the 5004p for example does not have it, the 5960p does). The dial color is correct (it's not glossy on this model) and the moonphase is indeed a very  dark blue. Congrats on your new watch!  Surely one of the last to be delivered if it's not a resale.  One quirk about your PT model vs previous R, G, and J models that you may not know is that the chrono pushers sit up higher (protrude out from the case further) than on the other metals. I've seen 3 PT 5970's and for some reason (perhaps case diameter or pressing) the pushers protrude noticeably further than those cased in the other metals. It's subtle, but a consistent difference.

I will attach a pic of the watch when I get to my computer. My AD believes it to be one of the last ones. Its my first big watch. I also have a 5070R. This onesis a little smaller on the wrist but theb again I've only had the watch 5 hours. I'm sure by tomorrow ill be as in love with the watch as I was looking at pictures of others around the web.

is it true that the 5970p will be discontinued?  An AD told me there are no more to be had and production has ceased....

Interesting about the pushers I will compare mine with my Rg later.....

It seems that the chrono buttons on my 5970J are somewhat different in that the polished surface seems to occupy a bigger portion relative to the bushed portion (looking at the buttons at some angles, sometimes it seems to me that the polished portion on each button occupies as much as nearly half the total surface area). I wonder if this is normal. Can anyone please comment on this? Thanks.

the older 3940P also lacks the diamond!!
