I know Seiko has quartz calibres with a kind of automatic device, but I don't know if other brands have some!

No Patek Philippe so far!

It seemed to me that the idea of "automatic" was essentially redundant - that all quartz were certainly not manual and ,therefore, some type of "automatic", although I would never have chosen that word myself. But it seems that I am ignorant of some type of quartz watch. Could you please explain the nature of a quartz that is an automatic, and how it differs from the typical quartz watch. Thank you.

Hi William,
An autoquartz is basically a battery operated watch which charges itself by means of a rotor (like the one you found on an automatic mechanical watch). For instance the Seiko kinetic works in that way. It has some advantages over a regular quartz watch, like the very long lasting battery life. I recall some Longines samples of autoquartz as well...
