Hello PuristS, other than the beautiful and important Patek ref.2526, what in your opinion are some of the nicer vintage Patek automatics?  Time indication only please, i.e. no date or other complications.  Any personal experiences and pictures are appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

the rarest vintage patek automatic watch and only one known in stainless steel.

... bought my first patek about 4 months ago - a oversize calatrava automatic.
With clous-de-paris pattern and 2 hands only - beautifll peace ... - I should post a pic tomorrow.

Best is, it has the cal240, which this started to build 1979 as far as I know ...

I think that the 3425 is the "purest" of all. The 3440 has a heavy bezel that gives it a contemporary look and interestingly shaped lugs. I own both but do not have pictures. I would certainly suggest that you look at those two before making  a decision.

Also, it's important to see the watches in person before you buy them. Some of them seem to be proportioned so that you get funny reflections around the edges of the crystal.

Gorgeous watch!  Classic design.  Less is certainly more in this (watch) case (pun intended)...hour and minute indication only.  Love the cal.240 as well.  I am fortunate enough to own a Calatrava ref.5000G with this movement.   Thanks to everyone for your input.  I am definitely leaning toward the 3425.

Patek 2551, sometimes called the disco volante.  PP also made another very similar lovely automatic ref- the 2552 around the 50's.

The 2551 comes with a 36mm, waterproof, screwback case and concave bezel. Stepped lugs and the same double P crown as used on the 2526.

Domed crystal, dauphine hands, dial with applied indexes, raised enamel PP signature and aux seconds.

Uses Patek's first automatic, the 12- 600AT movement with 30 jewels, a bi-directional winding engine turned 18k rotor and gyromax balance included.

These beauties are getting very hard to find.
