Simply spectacular
Hi all:
It is about a few months that I am the owner of a " Chronometro Gondolo" 5098. Although I am a lover of all kinds of clocks, I am not a specialist in the Art of Horlogerie, neither I am updated in new brands, models or movements.
But if you want to know what is so special with the 5098, for being undoubtly overpriced, I shall tell you that ,in my opinion, it is an extremely beautiful piece, so different of the current trends, that it makes a pleasure just to drive your eyes to its simple dial, nearly empty with no complications, just like a sophisticated remain of a time in which you only needed to know hour and minutes.
Maybe it is not enough for some of you, but it is a good reason for me.

I agree with you both. The question is I don't understand the tepid welcome the 5098P has had in the P.P. forum, after its launching in 2007.
I think it is not because of its price; others pieces are extremely expensive and watch lovers seem to be very happy with this. Maybe the trend of big block-pieces full of levers and buttons , has made we forgot the first and most important reason for a clock: To measure everyday time. Mj.
Its complexity lies in the dial...

I find 5098 a very special watch. It has historical roots, a simple, beautiful movement and a very sophisticated dial, where I believe lies its complexity. A simple watch for a complex man.
