.......my personal point of view is to keep the 5970 white gold ( as well as Rose)..

Remember all the main " heavy" collectors are more focalized in 1. PLATINUM   2. WHITE GOLD     3.  ONLY  vintage out of productionn watches in Yellow Gold .

In few words to sell or bartering a white gold PP 5970 is a big mistake now.

It is beautiful and performed 70% of his value in the last 7 months .....

You are very well informed : one year only production.in few words SOLD OUT ( like 5070P, my dream)

I'd be glad to see an official statement from PP saying there's only one year of production of 5970Y!

Same for the 5070P!

Until I see that I consider such statement as speculation, that's how it's called IMO.

ps: I'd too keep a 5970G over a 5970Y everyday, even if I definitely prefer the 5970R! 

I fully agree with Jerome.

Actually, up to now, the Patek manufacturer doesn't announce anything about on the Lemania movt' though we all said the supply will be cut soon.

Secondly, I also really suspect that people prefer PT>WG>RG>YG in anything.  AFAIK, many would prefer RG/YG, particularly under the same model, the collectors need not pay much premium.   For example, you are hard to find a 3445RG then a 3445WG.

Hi,

I talked with Patek Philippe public relations officials at Basel.

Among other subjects I asked about the future of Lemania based calibres for Patek Philippe.

The answer was that the relationship between the Patek Philippe and Swatch Group top management was quite excellent and there was no reason to think of any short term end on the supply of Lemania base plates to Patek Philippe.

I would add that all that was announced by the Swatch Group a few years back was the end of supply of kits to outside buyers. It would be still in the Swatch Group rights to sell main plates to Patek Philippe, specially as they have agreements running. The Swatch group problem IMO is more on the lack of value added for them when selling low priced calibre kits. They prefer to sell finished and assembled calibres, like all calibre makers.

On the contrary I would not be surprised to see Patek Philippe issue an in-house manual wind "simple" or "perpetual calendar" chronograph calibre in a few years, and stop using the Lemania base plate, but I don't see Patek Philippe without a manual wind chronograph calibre, in-house or not!

Please note that I have no information about a new in-house manual wind chronograph calibre coming from Patek Philippe!

YG will never be as valuable as any of the other metals. MAYBE if there were 100 YG VS 1000 WG it would alter my thinking but take a 3974 YG VS a RG, HUGE difference in value.
