The 5712, for the beauty of its dial...
It may be different if you spoke of a Nautilus Vintage, a Jumbo, for example, with a Tritium dial, as the indexes are thinner than in the new version ( 5711 ), and the problem of the 5711, ( well, for me ), is these big luminova indexes...
Approach you dial to a light, and look at your dial...
It's less evident with the 5712...Which is my favourite in SS.
Best.

I agree that 5711 is more pleasing in my eyes than 5712 initially. However, as I am wearing my 5712 for the past week and its appeal does grow gradually.
My preference is usually for simple dials but in this case, the 5712 IMO is the more complete watch.Don't dismiss the 5712 RG though. Saw it on someone's wrist the other day and it was a stunner. For a more stealth look the 5712G is my pick:

no problem, only love to my watches!!!!!
Bye DONATO from Italy.
I'm an avid watch fan, but unlike many 'purists' on this site, I put most of my emphasis when buying a watch on the esthetics...the inner workings, collectability or loyalty to a brand are quite secondary to me. My favorite cases include the AP Royal Oak, the 47mm Panerai 1950, the Panerai Luminor and Radiomir, the IWC Big Pilot, the UN Freak, to name a few...
I have been clamoring the Nautilus for many years, but I have not pulled the trigger. When I look at the simple dial of the 5711 vs. the 5712, my focus is simply on the Nautilus' beautiful case. When I look at the 5712, I'm always fighting to like the dial and the placement of its features, the case now becomes secondary. IMHO, this watch is about the case and it's bracelet design. There is tremendous harmony in the 5711. All the other variations are nice, but just not flawless.
Now someone is going to come to me and tell me why I don't own the basic royal oak, and I'm into offshores... I guess like many of you who have already owned one form or another of the original nautilus design, you want to move 'forward,' onto more usefull dials, even if they are busier. I guess that's the natural progression of this hobby...to expect your favorite watches to offer you more...
I hope to own a 5711 one of this days, and finally be a happy PP fan like so many of you.
