what are the recommendations of an aquanaut for a 6.5" mans wrist with reasonably large hand - the older mid-sized 5066a or the larger 5065/5165 (both which seem to be about the same size from what i can gather). any input appreciated.

I have the 5165 and it doesn't look large at all, in fact at 38/39mm depending on how you measure it, it's just perfect. The slimness of the case makes it wear smaller and closer to the wrist if that makes sense.

I just got a 5165 last week, I have a 7.5" wrist and it fits quite nicely, I do have some smaller watches as well that also look good, so I don't think you could go wrong eitehr way, but IMO the dial and strap design of the 'new' aquanaut is much more appealing that the previous version.
