Patek Philippe

We all know Patek ships their watches to ADs in batches (so nobody feels left out).  I was just informed that my 5159 should be here tomorrow (walf way round the world) so expect to see this model at an AD near you, shortly.

I have been offered one by my AD which I decided not to buy.  Others have been trading on the grey market. One grey market dealer told me he has handled four in the last month.

Sorry for the darkness of these pics.  Watch feels a bit like an old friend..  I find it actually rhymes a bit with my 5970. The case thickness is the same as the 5059 but the diameter makes everything feel more correct, comfortable.  The rounded curves feel really good (much more comfortable than I imagined) on my wrist.  I could see this being a regular daily wearer for a while.. Poor quality pics attached..  Forgive the smudges, I literally just cut it out of the plastic prior to snapping.  I've thrown in my more comon 5107p (also a bit smudgy [appologies]) to give you something to compare the size to. Some cool movement shots in the reflection of the officer's-back... also, was surprised to find it came with a PP fold-over clasp.  I heard they were eliminating that PPcrest fold-over on new models.

I was not a big fan of 5159 and 5050 was my favorite retrograde.
After seeing those shots, 5159 grew on me and I would have a very difficult time if I were to choose between the two.

Thanks Sinus and SC ..  The dealer told me your favorite Patek is usually the one you are taking delivery of that day.  This morning I actually got Christmas Day butterflies in my stomach..  looking forward to slipping the watch on.  It's been a long time since I felt that kind of emotion over any material thing.
