...and all I can say is "wow".  I was fortunate enough to be at a Canadian AD and just before I left, the gentleman there pulled a 5101 out of the safe to show me.  I've never actually seen one in the flesh before and was pretty amazed at the quality of the movement.

if i'm not mistaken, calibres such as this requires a form to be filled out for the customer to be "approved" by PP prior to a sale to be transacted. is this accurate?

You fill in a form with the other Patek models you own and they ether approve or disapprove you..  But cursory evidence suggests that the 5101 may be a slower seller..  Models sitting in safes at Canadian ADs, low resale auction prices (closer to list) ..  I suspect this model not selling as robustly.  I own this watch and love wearing it because it's such a sleeper, but I suspect this is not necessarily be one of those investor homeruns; nor should it be I suppose..  but just the same..  That's what I suspect.
