Basel 2008 news: Patek Philippe 5078 and 5959 with black dials

Two grand complication models come this year with a new black laquered dial.

These true marvels are still available with their white dials (if you consider them as available) !

ps: enamel dial for 5078 and lacquer dial for 5959 on white dial versions! Thank you for correcting me.

The black versions are handsome, but I still prefer the white dials.  By the way the "white" 5959P has a lacquered dial, not enamel dial.

And, can somebody tell why the black dial is lacquer rather than enamal?  
Is it because black enamal dial is very difficult to do, or black enamal dial is easy to crack?

Both white and black dials on the 5959 are lacquered rather than enamel, because enamel dials are too thick. Patek was looking to make this watch as thin as possible. The latest price is 440,000 Swiss Francs.
