Would somebody be kind enough to tell me which year the ref 5039 was introduced? was it ever produced in Platinum? is it already discontinued? Thank you kindly for your response.

Although I cannot tell you the first year made (mid 90s?), I can tell you that it continues to be made in all three golds (although for a couple of years recently they ceased making rose - recently reinstated), but never in Platinum.
To my knowledge started in 1996....
...and availlable in all three golds only - i.e. yellow, white and rose gold.
As far as I know, it's not "officially discontinued" yet - but.....that shouldn't be that far away.
Personally I'm not that fond of the Clous de Paris decoration, but have to admit that on this model
it looks very appealing. And the dial - is sheer beauty IMO
I'm not sure I mentioned this already - but I like the brushed silvered dial even more than the opaline
of ref 3940 - 3940 case and 5039 dial would be a personal dream combination for me
