To me, the 5960, in all iterations and metals, but especially in platinum, is the definition of Patek Philippe in the first quarter of the 21st century.
This is what horological history is made of. Design, complications, practicality, complexity. All of this done the right way. And, my god, what a pedigree. From the 5004 to the 3970, all the way to the 5970, finally arriving at the case and dial design language of the 5960. An incredible journey, that encapsulates both the historic landmarks of the 20th century for a Patek Philippe wristwatch and the established savoir faire of early 21st century dynamism.
Sporty, yet elegant. Arrogant, yet refined. This is the stuff horological legends are made of. Let’s see what happens in the next 20 years. And to whomever already has this gem in the collection, Gentlemen and Ladies, please enjoy and… hold on tight! And, to quote one of the best films ever put on screen, “everything else will be lost, like tears in the rain…”
Cheers!
