Patek Philippe 5110G Prototype.
Our friend Quattro initiated a thread about Patek WT, and the 5110G Proto came out of the wood.
So, I did a research and fell on these photos, most probably to be credited to Sothebys.
To be honest, I am not impressed at all by this unfinished dial. And a detail bugs me. The 5110 was issued in year 2000. How come this prototype was manufactured in 2003? I wondered it if didn't house a special version of the movement, as well, but it is said " Cal 240HU ", so apparently nothing special, here.
This piece remains a mystery, to me.

I regret having sold my 5110 but I couldn’t live with the crown horns on that watch.
And the wobbly rectangular pusher was another reason I sold it. 🤷🏻♂️

I have read the watch belonged to a watch maker at Patek Philippe
He had presumably fitted a prototype dial into a standard 5110G
This seems to be confirmed by the extract of the archive,
which mentions an opaline dial, with guilloche center, which lays in the box just next to it. So my guess is that this timepiece is a regular 5110G model from 2003 on which the original dial has been replaced by a prototype one dating from 2000 or even before. Just a guess, of course.
Here's what's written in an Sjx article
entitled Auction Watch: Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5110G Prototype Dial at Sotheby’s:
"According to Sotheby’s, the consignor of the watch is a watchmaker who worked at Patek Philippe for many years, so he presumably installed the prototype dial on a regular production ref. 5110G."
This would explain why a regular 5110G from 2003 is fitted with a prototype dial which must have been produced before the launch of the 5110 in 2000.
