The 5127 exudes sensuality. Not a sharp edge to be found on the curvaceous case. Perhaps the original Galet if you understand the reference.

A real pleasure on the wrist, here with a rich green strap that pairs well with the opaline dial, yet it's nevertheless hard to capture the full beauty in pictures.
A generation when the name "Patek Philippe" was very subtly printed on the dial. Perhaps only the wearer could read the important marquee.

While I very much welcome the new generation of models that is slowly finding its way into the Calatrava collection, I am sure that a more classical offering will never cease to play a critical role within Patek's lineup ;-)
I'm happy to see the love models such as your 5127G continue to receive from our community --- they are modern yet highly essential references, full of Patek's DNA. I have no doubt they will delight many more generations of discerning collectors!

yes yes yes !!‼ 5127 is very traditional and charming model
I was captivated the moment I saw this ad, and did everything in my power to get this (but bracelet model).
Nice...the bracelet model definitely changes the overall look. More dressy and perhaps less versatile but still wonderful.
The 5153 in its various dials is more vintage classic in a modern offering.
I love the hunter caseback on the 5153.
I'm an outlier here, but if I could have the 5127 without a date, it would be an easy decision to prefer the 5127 over the 5196P.
I don't think the 5196s are particularly great on the wrist...an overall flat piece without many contours.
One definitely buys the 5196P for its dial.

Yes, the prices of the 5196P have taken off, for some yeas, now. Now, it is not too flat on the wrist. And it wears bigger than a 37 mm watch.

I've always thought it was beyond me financially. So, in the meantime, I've spent twice as much on a bundle of watches that aren't quite as nice.
A problem we all have: buying too many insufficiently desired pieces.
Someone once said: the best watch purchases are the ones that hurt a bit (financially). It's not a universal rule, but the point is strong. True desire, and perhaps long term enjoyment, is often manifested by ones willingness to endure a bit of pain.

It's probably getting harder to find really nice examples of the 5127. They're still out there ... I hope ;-)
They are out there, but getting rarer...in the 22-25K range. I just saw a nice example if interested. I can PM you the dealer's name.

My beloved 5110 has a very similar case but I think the lugs are slightly different, a bit more elongated on the 5110, and a bit more harmonious on the 5127.

Looking at them next to each other it seems clear that the 5110 bezel is a little wider (and taller?) than the 5127 bezel. Am I right about the difference between the lugs, or are they actually just the same?
My 5127 is the bracelet version, so it's not so clear, but as you said, the 5110's lugs are a little more elongated. This may be related to the difference in the shape of their bezels.
