The 5172 achieves a rare feat of intricacy and a good amount of lume at the same time. The 5320 also achieves it but most models with a lot of lume look..well.. blunt. I love wearing an aquanaut but it doesnβt have the same intricacy. Then you have quite a few models like the 5960 and 5961 with a tiny bit of lume but not really enough to be useful. The 5172 is truly useful at night and by day looks (as shown in your photo) spectacular!
Almost any yellow gold Patek with a brown strap will wear casual - at least my old calatravas are, as well as the VC's.

Only the lighly barock VC 6394Q is giving me a hard time at casual . But this is a great combination here - I always find it harder to wear white gold casual, esp. with a black dial.
For me it's the other way around. I have a hard time wearing yellow gold or rose gold casually but none problem wearing white gold or platinum casually
Thank you Sir, and this shiny yellow strap is also on its way to dress down a much more important (incoming) watch....Pics available hopefully within the next couple weeks! ;-)
It's probably well known that, in my view, Patek's rare handcrafts are truly among the very best watches of any brand...so I can only enthusiastically support your idea! :-) Wish you all the best in this quest! Cheers.
Great shot of the 5172, I was actually trying it for the 3rd time the other week. It is my next Patek for sure. perfect for my style and lifestyle. enjoy it with health!
The 5146g works well as a crossover casual piece. Cream dial and brown strap. Blue strap would be good too. And the 5146g/p with the slate dial works well as a casual watch too.
