Opinion on 5270
Hi all. It seems that my next purchae will be a chrono and the one most have advised me is the 5270. Which model you guys prefer as i have no experience with PP chrono (i have 5711, 5712, 5990, 5230g, 5524g and 5205r)?
I am looking at which one you think looks the best and also value wise, i prefer something that can keep ita value.

Great collection you already have and adding a
PCC brings it to the next level !
5270 is great and uses Patek’s in-house movement.
So if it sings to you, then technically it is a great watch with aesthetics that you like.
Alternatively in terms of collectibility, so PuristS prefer the 3970 and 5970 because of the lemania movements which are not produced anymore, hence they have more “rarity”.

Agree with Gordon's comments. Perpetual calendar chronograph will enrich your existing collection. If you wants to buy it new from your AD, 5270 is a great choice (actually the only choice).
Depends on your preference on the metal, you can choose from 5270J (quite classy actually if you like yellow gold), 5270/1R with bracelet or 5270P (great salmon dial and the prestigious platinum). Your relationship with AD will be elevated to another level after this purchase.
But from a collectibility or purist's perspective, 5970 or 3970 (if you accept its smaller size) may be a more popular choice, but you need to source a good specimen in the market.

I would say their current market values are similar. But from a purist's point of view, 5970 has the following merits over 5270:
1. Shorter production period. 5970 was produced for around 6 years only, while 5270 has been in market since 2011 and still in production
2. The Lemania movement is visually more appealing (e.g. more inner angle bevel polishing) than Patek in-house CH29 caliber. Though CH29 is technically more advanced, with instantaneous minute counter for example.
3. The dial is more balance, with the two subdials in the same level of the central axis of chronograph, minute and hour hands, unlike the slightly dropped subdials in 5270.
Having said that, the case of 5270 is actually more sophisticated, especially over the lugs.

5970 is more collectible and will be better from a value retention perspective. Same story for 5070 vs. 5170.
+1 and agree with V regarding the 5970 over the 5270 (except the P salmon dial in some instances) and the 5070 over the 5170 👍

I certainly agree with the observations made here
comparing the 5970 to the 5270 On collectibility and value with the exception of the 5270P Salmond dial. I love the platinum, the dial, the movement (especially with the jump minute), the size and the overall look. That model is rare and I believe will out do the 5970 somewhere down the road. Definitely my pick as well...5270P! But for some odd reason there are many on Chrono24 selling for a lot less than MSRP ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is a good problem to have!
The watches being discussed are all beautiful and many of us have had practical experience with these gorgeous timepieces. We are all very fortunate people.
My big concern with the 5270 in any iteration is that the watch is BIG. My personal preference would be for the 5270J but in this I may stand alone . Many of our colleagues won’t go near yellow gold, especially in a watch that is as large as the 5270. I looked at a 5270R ( the one currently with a rose gold bracelet) at an AD in Beverly Hills. It is certainly beautiful but It’s too much “bling” for me. I have come to the conclusion that for my personal taste in these things, the 3970 is my absolute favorite. It has amazing capability and ( for my taste) has just the right amount of “presence” on the wrist.
