I think so too. Discontinued in 1998 but I managed to come across one by chance at the Patek Salon in London three years ago, a special commission that the customer decided not to take.
...and you should take into account the (relatively) broad strap (lug) width. The resulting low case diameter/strap (lug) width ratio makes the watch itself look even smaller.
I really need to try one on at some point. I’ve come so close to pulling the trigger on a 3796 but I just can’t visualize how it’ll look. These photos help, but I wish I knew someone that owned one! [nt]
It feels like a 32mm watch due to the dial and bezel. It is quite stunning on a wrist because of the small size and obvious vintage charm. It doesn't look wrong, it looks vintage. It actually makes the wearer very handsome and intelligent looking :P. If you are concerned about the size, you can look into 570 and 565.
