First and last.
Patek 130 was, I believe, the first serially produced chronograph wristwatch. Here it is with its big much younger 5370 brother. Sub-dials are very similar as is outer railroad and tachometer scale. Fun how 130 goes to 51 and 5370 goes to 50.
Stepping
I might be stepping on some PP lovers toes, but the vintage one just reminds me of the JLC blue sector dial they brought 2 years ago and produced it for only 1 or 2 years.
You have two bombs, here. Love the Rattrapante / enamel 5370P and the awesome sector dial of the 130. Bravo! [nt]

But next to the 5370P, I have to say it feels alittle eclipsed.

Do you think 5370 is eclipsed by the double split? I have both— Patek is more elegant, Lange more intense.
Honestly I used to think the double split was superior. Superficially it certainly seemed that way.
However over time I found the 5370P to be a finer timepiece. It is just more confident and on point. The rattrapante is very self assured, buttery smooth and accurate. The case, dial and overall aesthetic is crafted in a manner that I have only seen in a handful of timepieces I’ve had the pleasure of holding in the metal or owning.
Don’t get me wrong, I still adore the double split, but it just lacks that refinement and attention to detail that the 5370P has, even the triple split doesn’t make up for it. If you simply want a superior looking mechanism that is a work of art, the double/triple split wins hands down. However if you want an all round unique timepiece that will probably go down in history as one of the best PP’s ever made, it really doesn’t get much better than the 5370P.

I would say that the Double Split is certainly, indisputably technically superior to the Patek or to any other split seconds on the market, at the exception of the... Triple Split.

Like I mentioned earlier, the 5370P I would say is more refined and superior in quality. I can’t stress enough how much more superior the feel of the rattrapante is. Whilst the ALS feels springy and unsure of itself, the Patek is far more accurate and doesn’t miss a beat. This is an important factor when discussing technical superiority that is often missed. I only noticed this properly when I lived with both timepieces for sometime.
The case is equally refined and sculpted, it really is a work of art, very thoughtful and the attention to detail is second to none. Leaving the dial, by far one of the most beautiful of any Patek or ALS.

Two absolutely amazing pieces
Unfortunately I don't have the chance having to choose between one or the other every morning, but if I would have to it would take me a huge time to decide every day !
