It's that time of the year, every year I feel at my most vulnerable! LOL  The new PP releases are still fresh, my brain awash with tormenting thoughts manifesting in my subconscious, fuelled by the flipping back and forth between the supporting and excellent posts on this forum.  So it hit me like a rude awakening from a good (or bad which depending on way you look at it!), yes you'll be happy, do it the little voice says, it's the one, only to told later by that same little voice, stop being daft, it'll leave you with just 1 PP, enjoy what you have and move on...or do I LOL...sell 3 PP beauties and add 100K plus and realise the dream.  God I love it, I adore it! and in rose my favourite! (how do you keep doing it PP!) but it's just tantalising out of reach or is it!!!?

It takes incredible courage to sell three watches to buy one unless that one watch is the one you cannot live without!  I once persuaded a fellow purist to sell three of his Pateks to buy the 5270R.  He loves his 5270R.  Among the three was a 5711/1A which he truly misses and he has since placed an order for one!  I wish in a way that I was in your position of being able to sell 3 watches to get close to a Patek minute repeater (I'd be happy with the 5078G) but unfortunately, I would need to sell my sis and her daughter to get anywhere close!

But they are my only relatives I can think of with any value! That did not come out so right but you know what I mean (I hope!)

So if the heart and mind are in agreement I’d say yes, although I’m curious which three would have to go.

and also because my sister's partner is a lot bigger than I am, I would have to sell my entire collection including those that are due to arrive in the next few years! The list includes the 5099RG, the 7200-010 London Edition, the 1530A, the 5940G, the 3878J, the RW Smith Series 2, the Cartier Tank Cintree and the new longines military watch (every cent counts!). I would still be short of £70k as I can buy the 5531R ex VAT being in Malaysia

This is truly iconic, just when I thought Patek had stopped evolving they come out with a world time minute repeater, in rose gold to boot! It’s an extraordinary sum to spend on a timepiece, but for some reason it is making sense considering the rarity and future value.

The only thing is, given the low production and high competition, I would wait to be approved before selling any other Pateks too soon... Alas, at least for most collectors, getting this watch might easily take several years.

I understand your dilemma completely because I’m in the same situation but on a smaller level.
I’m selling two Pateks and topping up to acquire a 5970P which is my grail .
Hope I’m not making a mistake 😢because I do love the two pieces that I’m sacrificing but 5970P just takes my breath away.
