Patek World Time Chronograph 5930G. A close up of the dial.
The good thing with the new official Patek Web site is that now, you have decently sized pictures of their watches, and that you can work on them.
For example, I worked on a close up of the 5930G dial, to have a better look on it.
It is not a secret that I am a huge fan of world time watches, and when it comes to Patek, even more. I always dreamt about a chrono / world time combination, and when I heard that Patek will release one, I was impatient to discover it.
Saying that I was totally charmed by the 5930G is not exact.
I find the case very appealing, with some good proportions, I am ok with the movement, even if I would have preferred a manual winding one, or a micro rotor ala Cal 240.
But the main criterion for me is the dial...
And here again, good and less good points.
The good points: The dial proportions, which are balanced, the decoration.
The hands are ok.
The less good point is the too centered small seconds. I think, but it is just my own perception, that without it would have been better, or bigger and less centered.
But, once again, these are feelings " a priori " which need to be confirmed in the real... And I didn't have the opportunity, yet to see it in the metal.

I enjoy comparing the marketing vs real world / lighting photos. So different. That blue seems to take on its ambient surroundings [nt]

The Blue in the Marketing Photo does not represent the color of the dial in normal incandescent or LED room lightening. To be honest, I'm glad it doesn't. In the attached color chart it closely resembles "aegean" ... and LOOKS GREAT with any dress ensemble that contains Blue and Gray.

It really fascinates me. I need to engineer some prolonged wrist time.
I liked it until I had it on the wrist.
The dial is beautiful but the proportions of the case I didn’t like. For me, it’s the same issue as with 5960: The case is just too thick. The chrono is a bit useless too.

To be honest is chrono a useful complication at all, i just let it run to show seconds. Have never used the chrono function for anything useful on my other chrono watches 😋 [nt]

For some, it might be useful.
For me, it isn’t. Like you, I have chronos but I don’t use them for their actual purpose. Some hand wound chrono movements are just beautiful to look at. As far as 5930G is concerned, I appreciate that Patek wanted to show that they can do a WT/Chrono but for me it’s a somehow strange combination and, on top of that, I find that the chrono sub-dial is too small.

I'm very interested by that watch as well
and maybe especially because of its different proportions (narrow with a little thickness). I imagine the fact the sides are straight goes with this feeling.
On the dial side, I appreciate a lot the way it is, with various technical elements, that's something I like very much (like in the 5975 fo rinstance).
I had the same feeling on pictures as you did about the second subdial. Not about the position but about its size that I found a little too small compared to the dial. I guess it is because I'm used to seeing bigger ones thus needing a little time.

About the position, they had to deal with the different moving rings, hence a little higher indeed. That might inded be something to get used to.

Had the chance to try this last weekend, the watch really deploys all it's strength when worn, it sits so well and pretty on the wrist. Having said that I agree with all your points, it is a great watch with its few flaws which for me are basically on the dial.

For some reason this watch never made me hot -
I do not understand why. Is it the dial, lack of something or something too much.
I handled the watch two or three times and know from experience that with some watches I need the time to understand them. That was the case with 5960/1A and 5650G. Perhaps I should really spend more time with this.

therefore I applaud to, or even kneel in front of, Patek: it has got the correct scalling.
Albeit this scalling is mostlikely borne out of the shortage of space in the inner circle.
This was an explanation from our friend skyeriding and I tend to consent to his idea.
The whole watch will look fabulous, I am sure, but my vote will go for the RG to come.
