Patek Philippe

That is very much my cup of tea.......beautiful....

I agree with you...I would go matt dark brown alligator. I would want a little contrast between the gold and the strap.

This is the first of this reference that I have ever seen. 33mm diameter, correct?

I think it is 33.5...

But it wears quite big... maybe 35-36. I find it’s all about the bezel, and this bezel is very thin.

Wow, it looks beautiful

Congratulations for your search and finding it finally.

For a watch of that age it looks in very good condition from your picture.

The strap color is quite a personal matter but I was thinking for the future looking at light brown tones.

My other choices are light, middle or dark grey but maybe it wouldn't be the best choices for a vintage.

So a kind of brown or caramel, coffe color but maybe you can also play with the material (no croc thus no-scales pattern for instance or mate finish etc...).

Enjoy your new watch, thank you for sharing it with us and keep us informed when you have your new strap smile

Best, Mark

congrats on a nice and superb Patek Philippe. Enjoy and wear in best of health. Best regards Georges [nt]

I'm pretty new to this vintage Calatrava thing

but I know just enough to send you a big congratulations. This is exquisite.

Huge congratulations. What a hunt! The thematic of timepieces you’re looking for is very special. How many of them do you own if it’s not too indiscreet?

I only focus on...

 By: rcg412 : October 8th, 2017-07:21
rare pieces, that I really like.   Generally I almost always prefer a double signed with some story to it

Of my double signed collection I have a ref 2526 Tiffany and co, With the golden rule purchased by Lyndon Johnson.

I have the Oscar Linke, and I have one modern piece, a 5296g sector dial with Tiffany and co.

I am actively searching for Palais Royale, Cartier, and anything from Shreve Crump Low...  the challenge is to find older pieces that are big, or wear big... and of course are original dials/mint.

Very interesting collection thematic. Thank you for all these info. You already own a lot of very rare timepieces

I think a dark strap - would suit it well
Dark brown is best ,
black may work but may be a bit harsh with the rose gold

Dark brown strap added... totally brought it out

Congrats in hunting down this superb piece !

How many "double signed" brands are out there approximately ?

Cheers,

Gordon

Pardon me for my ignorance,

What does “ double signed “ mean? I have never heard that expression.

Thank you.

Double signed

 By: rcg412 : December 4th, 2017-05:37
Means anything that has a jewelers name on the face as well as Patek.

Back in the day, it was often more prestigious to have a jewelers name on it than Patek.

Today, only Tiffany can double sign watches.
