I like when simpler two or three hands watches are in rose gold as it feels the classical, elegant and refined watch. hence, when I saw the 5110R I could gather both worlds: an iconic watch with an interesting complication and a simple "Calatrava" look.

the beauty and the pecfect sizes of these watches.Can you share with me how do you feel or how does it says to you when you wear it on your wrist or when you look at them?What actually is the part that trigger your soul?lately I have a strong feel on this grail.

the size (37 mm) feels perfect even my wrist is 200 mm.

The red gold version was the biggest surprise to me - it is indeed a very elegant watch. I bought for that matching RG Calatrava cufflinks and I'm sure that with a dark blue suit and pink shirt the watch will look really cool.

I already saw many RG watches in the past, for several brands, but this one particularly doesn't work the same way. The R was the first version I saw of the 5110 and a great experience.

and on that RG is a bit bolt. A pink shirt softens the shine of a RG watch.

and in the view of these magnificent photos, I would almost come there to regret having chosen 5130P.... almost !!!

For me 5110 is the original and perfect one. I see 5110 vs. 5130 in the same way as 3940 vs. 5140.

But lately I have found myself admiring coloured metals. This is all new for me...

First it was the Lange 1 with moonphase in rose gold. It has a sense of romance and elegance I didn't feel with the platinum version. The new model is rapidly becoming a grail in my mind.

And a few days ago I had lunch sitting next to a chap wearing a 5167R. What I had thought was gauche turned out to be rather nice.

Then this 5110 comparison - logically I would choose P then G, or maybe G then P; but on the strength of these photos it would be R, R, R all the way!

Oh dear. What is happening to me???

(Gonna have to work on a tan so I can wear R...not likely given my very pale skin...)

Yes, it must be temporary insanity.

Heck, I've always been a SS chap - Pt is too heavy; WG is too soft (plus the problems of rhodium plating, where used); Ti is too grey; DLC not my thing. (Ceramic, well, maybe...an interesting material...)

But then I tried on the new VC Overseas ultra-thin in WG, just for kicks; and ooooh, the softer lustre of the metal was so nice (plus: iconic movement and no date!). Shame it's priced...um...a little bit on the high side. (VC, I'm contemplating the brown dial SS version but if you really want to grab my wallet by the teeth, do the ultra-thin in SS and I'm yours!)

And around the same time I encountered that L1 MP and .

So I'm just hoping I'm having a mid-life crisis and soon I can go back to my regular diet...

Also for me SS is the first choice followed by Pt. I do not really like WG as metal but lately I have noticed that sometimes J & R can be nice.

......i love white metals....but every now and then, the yellow or rose just works better for a watch.

Though I generally prefer white metals, I like the classic look of the R on this watch. P would be a close second.
