Heritage is dead. Long live the revenues!

Didn't you have an incoming on these? [nt]

No. I do not like them enough. I would not wear those.

Naturally, it is just my personal taste.

Thanks for your views. Lovely Ellipse watches you have there.
Sympathize with you regarding the new 40th anniversary of the Nautilus.
Cheers.

Nicely put, thank you Geross. [nt]

There is not too much wrong with the latest Nautilus watches

Patek is strong, hence the a large limited number of 2.000, which will be sold out or are already.

The Asian market is still the main future market, hence the diamonds, I suppose.

Not all creations of Patek in the past were great and there will also be less attractive ones in the future to come.

I recall you were disappointed also by the pilots watch and some months later it grew on you.

You are right, Count

The Pilot has its virtues. It's big, it's different. But it's not rude like today's releases. I simply do not get the direction Patek has taken. Naturally, there will be great and worse watches in the future. A short time ago Zenith released a watch with Range Rover in the dial. But to write basically

1976 + 40=2016

is bloody disappointing.

I would not say "rude": both Nautilus look very feminine in my perception

The dial print is certainly polarising but I am sure Patek fans will "overlook" this detail.
The diamonds are very well chosen and suit the watch actually very good.
What else can you make out of a Nautilus than the shown models today?

If it was a must to make WG and platinum watches,

why not to make the other with 240Q movement and use the typical blue dial colour. Using the cork boxes was a great idea - why not to built the watches using the two part case construction. The other watch cold have been, as an example, a simple two hand Nautilus, closed case back and without seconds hand. Easy to make with the current 5711 movement - just remove one hand. There are unlimited alternatives. I can't get the nearly 50 mm size, diamonds and engraved dial. Really, can't get it.

Is it so hard to design something like that?

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : October 3rd, 2016-12:58
it took 37 seconds.
The nautilus is almost perfect, more you touch , most you ruin.
Stop this huge brand name on the dials...i left geneva.
Isn't it a bitter more exclusive? only few people might know what you wear.
but i know that's much easier  showing your billionaire status  with the brand name in capital letter, with the 40th anniversary printed on the dial, so it will blink in the eyes of others the price tag.

In 2006 Patek introduced 5711 Nautilus.

It took 3700/1A to modern times just like Patek did with Golden Ellipse two years later.

thanks for the post!! really nice to see some love for the Ellipse

 By: christianch : October 3rd, 2016-14:43
mine (that was also a revamp, new dial after the anniversary) says hello smile I agree that the anniversary for the Ellipse was much more coherent - no need to  stamp  the purity of the dial with the anniversary.

nice post Kari ! thank you

The Size is Right for a man

Bulckiness takes away beauty of elegant dress watches and 31mm * 35mm  is enough for a man.
