Patek Philippe Suggestions Please !
After many years of deliberation, I am finally thinking of buying patek philippe as a 41st Birthday present for myself. I have narrowed it to 4 choices. To be honest 3 choices (see last pic). Please advice me as to which one I should go for and why. Any Advice appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. The AD just told me that the stainless steel 5960 is not hugely popular and not selling much here in Singapore. He suggested I go for the more classical ones. Personal opinion
For your first PP go for something you love. You are unlikely ever to part with it, except perhaps to a loved one. Don't prioritise collectibility on this one. I got a 5146p and I love it, because it was my first..

I would, without zero hesitation, take 5960/1A. It's a wonderful watch and good price taking into account the complications.
Who on earth cares if it is popular or not!
However, I would place a strap to 5960/1A and save the bracelet for the future in case I start to dream about getting more bling.

Hello there, it seems people did not get your taste. I can see you narrowed it actually down to the 5146 J, 6000 RG and the UEBER-cool 5147 G. I would struggle between the 5147 G and the lovely 6000 RG, that looks
best on your wrist. If money is not an object: 5147 G and 6000 RG.
If money is a little object: 6000 RG which is a "popular" rose gold watch from Patek ( if you follow auctions, you know it) and in my opinion the best deal when you consider financial interests and your personal "I want factor".
The 5147 G is more for special occasions and more a piece to enjoy in private as diamonds on a timepiece are not the Werstern taste, for some reason.
The 5960 is "O.K." and best wearable like Dr Kol is doing but the scaling is not correct, so what is the point in that? It is a pretty Patek, yes.
I feel the 6000 RG is what fits your wrist best, is of precious metal( a criterion for you I suppose) and a really, really beautiful Patek with a character from the 30ies.

Although I like 5960A, I think the 5147 looks like a good option...
and "deal" with the precious metal and bonus diamonds vs SS.
The 6000R also looks good. If you think collectible, then SS Patek and the less popular 5960 may be a good contra play.

I am happy with my 5960
At first I was not very impressed with this watch when I first saw it on the Internet. However when I tried it on at my AD I had a very different impression. I really enjoy wearing it even on the bracelet (though I have also ordered a strap for it). Of course it always come down to personal preference

Well, I think that many of our members have quite summed-up the issue. It will finally come to your own taste. Though you didn't say what you're looking for, we feel from your selection that the classical calatravas are what attract you.
I also think the 5960/1A is very interesting. Did you remove it because of what your AD said or because it is less you taste? If it is the first one then it may be a bad advice (if you accept buying it second hand). If it is the latter, then you should follow your tastes and go for a refined and classical Calatrava case with the 5146 or 6000.
These two watches are models you can wear regularly (on the contrary to the 5147). It will allow you to enjoy wearing your first Patek everyday.
The Annual Calendar complication is a very interesting one from Patek. Though I prefer it in the 5960, it is why I would choose the 5146 over the 6000.
If you're looking for a more casual look, and more original, then go for 6000.
This being said, if you don't listen to your own tastes enough you might regret your choice in the end.
The 5960/1A is the best technically but not as refined and elegant as a Calatrava for sure. I wouldn't get it new but this is the one I would get... but this is me.

I initially thought the 5147 would be a bit too feminine but I was pleasantly surprised how the 5147 sat on my wrist. It looked stunning in real life the diamond case did not look too bling and blended well with the outer case being white gold.
I do like the looks of the 20th anniversary annual calendar but may I know as to why it would be collectible? I love this 5205R-010 black dial.

I found the steel 5960 a bit too big and not to my taste.
IMO, 20th anniversary 5936 is collectible because ...
it is an anniversary version and contains Brequet numerals which are very lovely.
At the end, balancing your taste vs collectibility is important to arrive at your choice.

The 6000r would fit nicely for a 1st Patek. But if you will only have one Patek. Then get the one with complications like a 5146g and if you like bling then go for it 5147g. Even with bling its masculine enough my opinion.

Does yellow gold / RG watches appreciate more in terms of value over time compared to WG?. Replies appreciated.

that RG is more dressy
That YG is old fashionned
That WG is more daily wearable.

More yellow gold / rose gold in Auction
I see a lot of YG an RG in auction. Just wondered whether WG fetches that kind of price. I like to RG 6000R calatrava for its simplicity and appeal. Love the 5147 WG for its finishing and the fact that it is an annual calendar. Comments please.
I also saw this obnoxious Aussie guy "Archie luxury" on you tube commenting on PP yellow and rose gold fetching more on auctions. This guy talks a lot of C##P not sure about him.
