Anyone test driven the Defender Octa yet? 🇬🇧🏁
According to the (admittedly British) test reports and specs this certainly looks like one of the rare off-roaders with appeal (to me).

The BMW V8 is a known quantity and the 6D suspension something quite intriguing (plus the Brembos seem to ameliorate one of the main failings of the Defender on the road (the woefully inadequate brakes)).
Was wondering if anyone already test drove one and what the impressions were? Thanks in advance 👍🏻🙏🏻

I had a V6 and V4 two door and four door. They ride on air suspension so they were really nice. I’ve never driven the octa

Would be a wild card entry anyhow and I would go for the 22 inch wheels (allowing a higher limited top speed) - was just curious if it is reasonably accomplished on road as well 😊👍🏻
I ordered one had it built and delivered but decided against it at the last minute.
Reason being it came in 2 weeks before my G Wagon so had to choose between the two. I had it specced in Faroe green with green interior, roof rack, mudflaps and the specialty off-road tires and wheels. The other reason I didn’t get it was because my wife’s RR that was 8 months old was already in the shop during the time that car same in. I was like am I looking I into the future of what my life would be owning one of these? Needless to say the moment I released it it sold immediately so there’s definitely a market for it.

Between the V8 carpathian to that one. So if that’s the case it’s a nice ride, comfortable because of the suspension. But the old V8 sounded way better.
Might be a very left field contender for the next car…
I am generally opposed to the principle of SUVs as they are simply a much less suitable concept for what I need from a car and the psychological safety and feeling of sitting high do not float my boat as much as better handling and road holding.
With this one the ludicrousness of it all combined with some actual capability might just seal the deal. And if it’s a company car, the downsides of potential niggles are much more controlled. Plus every single recent AMG needed plenty of unscheduled care and attention (when did cars become so needy? 🤷🏻♂️🧐), so not worried from that perspective 😉

The Range Rover line from Land Rover is more well known for these types of things so i hope the Defender isn’t !
I must admit after driving a few SUV for years its harder to pick a normal sedan again when we are talking about a family car.

As said, if you do not have to worry about repairs yourself it is a tad easier to stomach 👍🏻
